One of the biggest struggles I see my clients experience when moving through the process of discovering their ideal career is letting go of “knowing” what their specific job title will be. There are thousands of titles, some so confusing they don’t even remotely describe the tasks. Society pushes us into roles – son, daughter, brother, sister, mother, father, spouse, coworker, boss…

We so closely identify ourselves by these roles that we can’t see past them. We are not the vice president, director, teacher, coach, analyst, or technician. We are much more than that. On the surface, we are a combination – a mosaic – of passions, values, talents, gifts and energy.

Beneath the surface lies limitless potential we have not even tapped into yet. What if you were to strip away all of the titles you and society have given you? How would you describe yourself without the labels? What if you answered, I am someone who is passionate about…., who loves….., who is moved by…..

Now is your chance – see if you can fill in those statements without using labels of any kind – no job titles or roles. See if you can discover the “essence” of who you are, the “why” and “how” you do what you do in the world.
